Objective: This study aimed to examine the efficacy of the teaching approach integrating a stroke-focused clinical practice workshops with digital databases for enhancing the clinical

performances for novice occupational therapists (OT) working for persons with physical disability. Methods: Ten novice OT participated in a 12-week clinical practice workshops,

convening for one hour weekly, and were granted access to digital databases. The first assessment and second assessment were administered one week prior to the initiation of

the clinical practice workshops and one week following the conclusion of the twelfth session, respectively. Outcome measures encompassed the Mini Clinical Evaluation Exercise (Mini-

CEX) and the Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS). In addition, a satisfaction survey for the clinical practice workshops and an in-person feedback meeting were also conducted. Results: Mini-CEX assessment results revealed that novice OT demonstrated significant improvements in all seven items (p < .050), with pass rates increasing from 0–20% to 60–100%. DOPS assessment results for “the application of assessment tools” and “the fabrication of splints” indicated significant enhancements in the utilization of assessment tools and splint application across all nine items for novice OT (p < .050). Finally, the overall satisfaction survey showed that novice OT expressed either satisfaction or high satisfaction. Conclusion: The integration of a clinical practice workshops and digital databases has demonstrated significant positive effects on the teaching effectiveness for novice OT, particularly in the acquisition of practical skills. Our results indicate that this teaching approach has the potential to enhance the clinical skills of novice OT in the field of stroke rehabilitation and appears to be a reference for clinical practitioner when designing training programs.
