Objective: Sustained attention and balance are important factors affecting children’s academic performance and daily living function. Body-Mind Axial Awareness (BMAA) is a Movement-based Contemplative Practice (MBCP) course been developed suitable for children. MBCP was suggested to be beneficial for improving children’s sustained attention and balance. However, the effectiveness of camp-based BMAA has not been investigated in previous research. The purpose of this case study is to explore the effectiveness of the camp- based BMAA program in children. Methods: Five children participated in this study. The camp- based BMAA program was delivered in 6 days (30 hours in total), with sustained attention and balance assessment tests measured before and after the program. Results: After the six-day BMAA program, two out of five children showed improvement in visual and auditory sustained attention tests, and three out of five children improved in balance tests. The children who improved in the sustained attention tests also improved in the balance test. Conclusion: The results of this case study showed the camp-based BMAA program may be beneficial in improving children’s sustained attention and balance. The results can be the reference for future application of the BMAA program or other MBCP in children. Future research with a larger sample size and control group is warranted.
